Building your agent
Using the AI prompt builder
Generate a polished, voice-ready system prompt for your agent from a few simple details — no prompt-writing experience needed.
Writing a great system prompt from scratch is hard. The AI prompt builder does it for you: describe your business in a few words and it produces a complete, voice-ready set of instructions you can use as-is or refine.
When to use it
- You're creating your first agent and don't know where to start.
- You want a professional baseline you can then tweak.
- You're refreshing an older prompt that's grown messy.
How to use it
- Open an agent (or New agent) and find the instructions field.
- Click Build with AI (the prompt builder).
- Tell it about your business — what you do, your tone, key do's and don'ts, and how it should handle common situations.
- It generates a structured prompt covering the agent's role, voice, behavior, and guardrails.
- Review the result, edit anything you'd like, and Save.
What makes a good input
The more specific you are, the better the result. Helpful things to mention:
- Who you are — business name and what you offer.
- Tone — friendly, formal, energetic, calm.
- Top tasks — book appointments, answer pricing questions, qualify leads.
- Boundaries — what the agent should not do or say.
- Escalation — when to transfer to a human.
After generating
Treat the output as a strong first draft:
- Read it aloud — it's meant to be spoken, so it should sound natural.
- Add any specifics the builder couldn't know (exact policies, special offers).
- Pair it with your knowledge base so the agent has the facts to answer from.
- Run a test call and adjust.
Tip: the prompt sets behavior; your knowledge base supplies facts. Use both together for the best results.
